President and CEO

John F. George, Jr., M.D., president and chief executive officer, leads the foundation’s efforts as a catalyst for positive economic change throughout North Louisiana. He sets strategic priorities, monitors results, and facilitates relationships with key partners. He has a diverse background in geology, medicine, and business, and possesses a unique combination of business development, investment management, and clinical management expertise.

Since John was appointed BRF President in 2013, the BRF has experienced tremendous growth. He was a key leader in the successful execution of the transition of the LSU Health Shreveport safety net hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe, from state to private management, under a BRF wholly-owned subsidiary University Health Hospital System, saving over 3,200 jobs and $800 million in economic impact. John successfully led the renewal of a local property tax millage providing over $45 million through 2032 to support BRF economic development efforts. John also spearheaded the development of four key programs to diversify the regional economy. These include the Center for Molecular Imaging and Therapy, Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program, New Louisiana Angel Fund 1, and the Digital Media Institute at Intertech.

Prior to joining the foundation, he owned and operated G6 Management, a private investment and capital management firm. Prior to starting G6 Management, John co-founded and led the development of LifeCare Management Service, LLC, a long-term acute care hospital system. Through hospital startups and acquisitions that he led, LifeCare owned and operated 20 hospitals in nine states with 3,000 employees, managing more than 1,200 patients per day and earning $300 million in annual revenue. In 2005, LifeCare was purchased by the Carlyle Group.

He is the past president and CEO of the Military Affairs Council, Barksdale Air Force Base, served as a board member on the Louisiana State University Board of Supervisors from 2006-2014, and currently serves on multiple boards including University Health System Board of Managers, Centenary College Board of Trustees, Eighth Air Force Consultation Committee, and the Committee of One Hundred.

John received a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Centenary College of Louisiana and a Doctor of Medicine from Louisiana State University.
