Jay D Meyers

Vice President for External Affairs



Jay D. Meyers, CFRE, vice president for external affairs, leads the foundation’s communications functions and is responsible for co-creating and implementing an effective business development and communication strategy to include philanthropic funding, private sector investments, and government grants.

Having worked at the BRF since 1992, Jay has been instrumental in many facets of the foundation’s growth from a 4 person company with a $2 million annual operating budget, to a corporation with over 3,200 employees and a $500 million annual operating budget. In addition to overseeing all BRF strategic communications and public relations, he has overseen the passage of four local property tax millages, totaling over $70 million, and has led the solicitation of private gifts totaling over $50 million.

Prior to joining the BRF, Jay served as the director of corporate and foundation relations at Illinois State University and assistant director of admissions and director of alumni affairs at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas.

He is the past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals North Louisiana Chapter, former vice president of the Montessori School for Shreveport Board of Directors and a member of the Session at First Presbyterian Church of Shreveport. Jay is married with two children.

Jay received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Hardin-Simmons University, his Master of Science in Communication from Illinois State University and his Certified Fund Raising Executive designation.
